Projects where we are adding stars: South Bank Tower

Four years ago, Eumar had the opportunity to take part in the creation of one of London’s most iconic new buildings – the South Bank Tower.

When the opportunity arose to be part of a project that would change the skyscape of one of the world’s great cities, we knew that we needed to grasp it with both hands and deliver something amazing.

The plan was to create a spectacular development at the heart of London’s vibrant South Bank, with panoramic views overlooking some of the world’s most iconic buildings.

Featuring luxury apartments, complemented by hotel-style residential facilities and five-star concierge service, the completed building offers some of the finest living in the heart of the city.

Spectacular Skyline

Glass is the core material of this exceptional building. Windows that stretch from floor to ceiling in every apartment, including the double-height spaces of the duplex penthouses. This is a building that celebrates light and that makes the London skyline a feature of every home. From its exceptional vantage point, many iconic London landmarks can be enjoyed including to the north, the City of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge to the east. To the south Battersea Power Station and the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament to the west.

history of the south bank tower

The South Bank Tower was known as the King’s Reach Tower until 2013. It was originally a thirty-story structure 111 meters high and was completed in 1972, designed by the architect Richard Seifert and built by John Laing.

Although redevelopment of the building had been attempted many times, it was only in July 2011 that owners CIT was awarded planning permission to convert the building to residential use along with additional mixed uses.

The redevelopment of the building began in January 2013. Six new floors were originally planned to be added to the tower, increasing its height to around 128.4 meters. The new tower was to house 173 apartments, with retail units to be built around the base and the existing podium building increased in height and transformed into new office space.

Once the initial construction was completed, the company Lucas UK was hired to complete the fitting out and finishing. We are extremely proud that, after scouring the globe for the very best, they chose Eumar as their supplier for all bathrooms in the residential development.
