Eumar invites you to visit the iconic Red Dot Design Award Museum in Essen.

With more than 2,000 exhibits, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design in the former boiler house of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein, a former coal mine complex.

On five floors and approximately 4,000 square meters, only products which were rewarded by an international expert jury in one of the world’s largest design competitions – the Red Dot Design Award – are showcased.

Of course as a winner of the Red Dot Award 2019 in the category of product design, our beautiful washbasin – Amelie is also presented. We warmly welcome you to visit as our award-winning Amelie collection concept is main object when you will step out of elevator on the 3-d floor. Come and see it!

fascinating contrast

The five-story museum’s home, a former boiler house built in 1929, was renovated and converted into an exhibition venue after a design by British architect Lord Norman Foster. The project by Foster has retained much of the industrial architecture of the old building as well as some of its original fittings, including pipework, pressure gauges, and steel girders.

Housing the best of modern and contemporary product design in an old factory with random placement presents a fascinating contrast. It really maximizes the beauty of the designs to the forte.

Recognition of innovative design

The name of the museum originates from the Red Dot Design Award well-known prize, awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, aimed to recognize each year the most innovative designs in various fields, including home furniture, lighting, household appliances, cookware, tableware, sports equipment, fashion, luggage, urban design, tools, robotics, healthcare, vehicles, consumer electronics, communication design, and more.

The Red Dot Design Museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, creative workshops, and educational programs.
